AddressBook Aid2 is an application for editing contacts in your Mac.
This is a redesigned version of AddressBook Aid with using Contacts.framework which is introduced from macOS 10.11. In addition to the change, code refactoring and optimization are done. Also the "Replace All" function in Find&Replace is implemented.
In AddressBook Aid2 the contacts in your Mac are shown in a table such like a spread sheet. The values of the contact are separated in the column, and you can add/edit each value in the cell, sort the value in the column. Also you can find a value and replace all of them at once. And you can compare any two contacts in the special panel. AddressBook Aid2 is specialized in editing the contacts.

Your contacts are protected in your system.
When AddressBook Aid2 is launched at first time, an alert for enabling access to your contact will be shown.
Please allow AddressBook Aid2 to access your contacts, otherwise AddressBook Aid2 doesn't work.
The other way is allowing AddressBook Aid2 to access your contacts in the System Preferences.
When you open the System Preferences, there is a privacy pane in the "Security & Privacy" preferences. Then select the checkbox for AddressBook Aid2 in the pane.

AddressBook Aid2 shows the contacts in the table such like a spread sheet.
You can select a type of the value of each column such as Phone, Email, Address by the View Type and Columns menu.
If the value has a label, it is shown together with the value, and you can change both label and value at the cell during editing.
To edit the value, you need to click the edit button.
Then the red line is shown under the Toolbar to show it is editing mode.
And you need to double-click the cell to change the value too.
When you double-click the cell in the Address and Instant Message columns, a special panel is shown to change the labels and values.
Also such panel will be shown when you double-click the cell with holding the command key.
You can add/delete the labeled value through the panel.
When you double-click the address cell, the address panel above left will be shown, and you can edit the items of the address. When you double-click the Address cell with holding command key, the another address panel above right will list the addresses in the contact. You can add a address with a label or delete the address.
Each column in the table has a sort button. It will help you finding a duplicate value. The Sort Options menu in the Toolbar is for changing the sort method. You can sort first/last name in the Name Column and ZIP/State/... in the Address Column.
The FindBar is shown when you click the Find button or select the "Find..." menu in the Edit menu.
When you type a word in the search field, the matched words are highlighted in gray background.
The word in orange background is the replacement target.
It shows the word will be replaced when you click the replace button.
Please note that the string in the address cell consists of several sub items and the item is used to "find" a string. For example when the address is "Cupertino, CA" and State and City are "CA" and "Cupertino". You can not find "Cupertino, CA", but you can find "CA" or "Cupertino" respectively. This is a restriction of implementing the replace function.
The compare panel is for comparing arbitral two contacts in the vertial table.
It is shown when you select the "Compare two contacts" in the Format menu with selecting arbitral two contacts.
In the edit mode, you can change the value and move/copy between contacts by drag&drop.
In order to copy the value, dragging value with holding option key.
When you control-click the cell, the context menu will be shown as below. Some cells have a action such as opening a mail message or a map. The action depends on the type of the cell.
In the edit mode, some edit menus in the context menu will be enabled such as inserting a value or replacing the value in the selected cells. If multiple cells are selected, the operation works for the selected cells.
You can change labels or values of selected multiple cells at once.
Select multiple rows, and change the value of one of the cell by double-clicking the value.
Then an alert is shown for making sure the operation.
When you select OK, the values of selected cells will be changed as it is entered.
AddressBook Aid2 can import/export a vCard and CSV file. When you select the Import menu in the file menu. the open file dialog will be shown. After selecting a file in the dialog, the import panel will open and show the contact in the file. Please select contacts in the panel which you want to import to your contacts.
Reading CSV file, AddressBook Aid2 detects the data types by the first line of the CSV file. If AddressBook Aid2 fails to detect those, please modify the CSV file by referring the sample data below.
When you import the file, you may need to specify the text encoding. Please select an appropriate encoding in the open panel.
The menus in the file menu are enabled when you select more than one contact in the window. When the menu is selected, the save file dialog will be shown. Please set the filename then press the Export button. The contacts you selected will be written in the file.
When you select exporting CSV, the contacts is written to the file with the first line which is mentioned above. It means that not all the values in the contact are written in the file. Also the text encoding will be UTF-8.
AddressBook Aid2 can show QRCode of the selected contact with various formats, and you can Copy&Paste the image to other documents.
You can change font and size in the row of Table.
You can drag&drop contacts between Apple Contact or Apple Mail.
And when Groups are visible, Drag&Drop can be used to add a member to a group.
You need to click the Edit button before you drop contacts from Apple Contacts.
The "Copy" and the "Copy as CSV" menu in the Edit menu, are used to copy the select row as "Text" to a paste buffer. When you select the "Copy", items in the columns are divided by a tab. When you select the "Copy as CSV", they are divided by a comma. So when you chose "Copy", you can paste the row to the table of Numbers or Excel as what you see.
Select a contact and then select “Print” from the File menu. You can select multiple contacts by cmd-click.
When you select the "AddressBook Aid2" menu in the print dialog, the configuration pane will be shown for selecting a value to print.
AddressBook Aid2 works in macOS 10.11 and later.
How to Install the trial version:
Double-click on the zip file that you downloaded, then the vCardEditor-Trial.app is created.
Uninstallation:
You can just delete this software from the installed folder in order to uninstall this software.
