Features

Enabling to access your contacts

When you launch AddressBook Aid at first time, you will see an alert for enabling for AddressBook Aid to access your contacts. Please enable the access, otherwise AddressBook Aid can not show your contact in the window. If you didn't, please enable it by opening the System Preferences. There is a privacy pane in the "Security & Privacy" preferences. Then select the checkbox for AddressBook Aid in the pane.

Table View Style Editing

AddressBook Aid shows the AddressBook in the table view. You can select the data type of each column such as Phone, Email, Address by the View Type and Columns menu. If the data has a label, the label is shown together with the data, and you can change both label and value at the table view cell during editing.
To edit the data, you need to click the edit button. Then the background color of the window is changed to show it is editing mode. And you need to double click the cell to change the value too.
Some cells such as in the Address and Instant Message columns show a special panel to change the labels and values. Also the panel will be also shown when you double click the cell with pressing a command key. You can add/delete the labeled value through the panel.

  

Column sort and Find&Replace by TextFinder

Each column in the table has a sort button. It will help you finding a duplicate data easily.
The Sort Options menu is for sorting first/lastName in Name Column and ZIP/State/... in Address Column.

 

When a address item such as a "ZIP" is selected by the columns menu, each column has a label. And it is coupled with other items of address. For example when For example when you change the labe of ZIP, then the label of State is also changed.

And AddressBook Aid uses TextFinder for Find&Replace which is introduced in OSX 10.7. You can find a word by name and by other categories with various options including a pattern, and replace it.

  

Import/Export vCard and CSV

AddressBook Aid can import/export a vCard and CSV file.
The Import panel shows contact information in the file. You can select contacts to import from it through the panel.

When you import the file, you may need to specify the text encoding. Please select an appropriate encoding in the open panel.

And AddressBook Aid detects the data types by the first line of the CSV file. If AddressBook Aid fails to detect those, please modify the CSV file by referring the sample data below.

The bulk change function

You can change labels or values of selected multiple rows at once.
Select multiple rows, and change the value of one of the cell by double clicking the value. Then an alert is shown that changes can't be undone. When you select OK, the values will be changed as it is entered.

Cell Context menu for editing cells

When you ctrl+click on a cell in editing mode, the context menu of cells will be shown as below image.
As the menu is saying, it is for replacing/appending/deleting text. You can edit multiple cells at once, when multiple rows are selected.

Showing QRCode

AddressBook Aid can show QRCode of the selected contact information with varous formats, and you can Copy&Paste the image to other documents.

Dynamic Text 

You can change font and size in the row of Table.

Drag&Drop Contacts

You can drag&drop contacts between Apple Contact or Apple Mail.
And when Groups are visible, Drag&Drop can be used to add a member to a group.
You need to click the Edit button before you drop contacts from Apple Contacts.

"Copy" and "Copy as CSV"

The "Copy" and the "Copy as CSV" menu in the Edit menu, are used to copy the select row as "Text" to a paste buffer. When you select the "Copy", items in the columns are devided by a tab, but when you select the "Copy as CSV", they are devided by a comma. So when you chose "Copy", you can paste the row in the table of Numbers or Excel as what you see.

Operating system requirements:

vCard Editor works in Mac OS X 10.7 and later.

How to Install the trial version:

Double click on the zip file that you downloaded, then the vCardEditor-Trial.app is created.

Uninstallation:

You can just delete this software from the installed folder in order to uninstall this software.
